President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will use the month of Ramadhan to prepare his future cabinet and work plan for the next five years, his spokesman, Andi Mallarangeng, said here on Monday.He said for the next two months, he would prepare the cabinet structure and also the right persons to fill it to make the cabinet able to work immediately after being inaugurated on October 20.
"During the fasting month the president`s main agenda is formulating an action plan for the next five years, including preparing the cabinet and its members," he said.
Andi said periodically Yudhoyono and vice president-elect Boediono would meet to intensively discuss the government`s work plan for the next five years, including the work plan for the first one hundred days of their term.
He said Yudhoyono had assigned Boediono to formulate the plan.
Andi declined to tell if the next cabinet would be structurally changed or if it would also have a new name.
He said he did not know if Yudhoyono had already started conducting a fit and proper test on candidates for cabinet members.
"It is only him who knows about it. It will later be made known to public periodically when time comes," he said.
Andi said that although Yudhoyono would be concentrating on the formation of his next government as a president he remained committed to finishing his term well.
Unlike in the Ramadhan before Yudhoyono this time would not conduct a Ramadhan tour of the country. Andi said that security was the main reason behind the decision.
Yudhoyono won his re-election after defeating incumbent vice president Jusuf Kalla and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri in the presidential race last month.(ANTARA News)
